US Visa in 3 Days: Bill Pending With U.S. Congress

April 17, 2012 by YourGuy

Anyone feeling frustrated about the long wait for a US tourist or business visa can finally heave a sign of relief. There’s light at the end of the tunnel with a new bill filed in Congress for a 3 day maximum wait. You can start scouting around for travel agents and US visitor insurance plans because this appears to be a shoo-in with powerful senators backing the bill. The visitor insurance USA is your additional protection in case of a travel problem with luggage, health, missed flights, or sickness. You can dictate what is included but make you get your plan from an accredited insurance provider recognized in the U.S.

Aside from the speedy approval or disapproval, the legislature also includes mobile visa centers for areas that have more than 1 million residents and no embassy. This entire bill will cut the red tape that has been plaguing interested travelers from booming economies like China, India, and some countries in Europe.

The bill is called the Jobs Originating through Launching Travel Act or JOLT aims to increase employment through tourism and incoming foreign travelers. The senators behind the bill are Senators Charles Schumer, Barbara Mikulski, Roy Blunt, Mike Lee, Marco Rubio, Mark Kirk, and Amy Klobuchar. The only exception to denying approval or disapproval of visa application would be if the embassy or consul deems the applicant to be a possible security risk, and this includes those they feel will end up as either overstaying tourists or illegal immigrants.

However, the downside for applicants securing a premium processing of 3 days will have to pay more than the regular visa fee. For business people, this may not mean much but for those who are on a travel budget, you may want to keep your regular visa application active or still continue with your plans to file your visa application today.

American Museum of Natural History Must See: Creatures of Light Show

April 11, 2012 by YourGuy

If you are going to be visiting the U.S. any time this year and up to January 2013, try to squeeze in a day visit to the American Museum of Natural History.  As a tourist, you have probably been advised to get USA visitors insurance. That’s an excellent piece of advice you will be happy to have visitors insurance while traveling around the country and maybe while on your visit to this museum. It’s not a dangerous place to go to but there will be crowds because it is being called one of the highlights of American museums for 2012 and it’s on a limited run.

The “Creatures of Light” show is all about living creatures that naturally emit light. Once you see them you’ll feel like you’ve been transported to another world. The show just opened this week and already the feedback has been a mix of reactions. Some say the creatures look angelic while others see them as demonic.

The more than 2,000 creatures are glowing plankton from the Caribbean, wild mushroom from different forests, fireflies, glowworms from New Zealand, jellyfish, bacteria and fish from the deep blue seas. From the minute you step into the show, you will be engulfed in a different surreal world where it’s all about bioluminescent light that can be seen from miles away. You even get to play a part in revealing the light creatures with the use of a flashlight.

The museum curator, John Sparks and  David Harvey who is charge of the exhibit department of the museum  have turned one part of the museum into a dimly lit environment where education about the creatures we never think about are shown. Most certainly everyone who will see the light show will walk away knowing and appreciating these creatures more. Finally, they’re getting center stage and the rightful respect that’s has always been due to them but never given.

Record All-Time High US Visitors for Los Angeles

April 5, 2012 by YourGuy

A total of 26.9 million people traveled to Los Angeles in 2011 making it the record high of all time. There was a 4.2% increase in overnight travelers with their usual visitors insurance compared to 2010. The increased traffic resulted in a thunderous 8% increase in tourist spending also compared to 2010. Tourist and hospitality businesses including those marketing US visitor insurance are finally enjoying a better bottom line after such a long drought from low travel figures.

According to Mark Liberman who is the CEO of L.A. INC, the increase “is significant for the LA economy as one out of ten jobs is related to tourism.” Many of the incoming international visitors are from Australia who uses LA as the entry point to the country. However ever since the LA city government opened a tourism office in 2006 in Beijing, China visitors from China have increased by 25%. More flights covering the US-China route had to be added last year to accommodate the demand.

Los Angeles is an ideal entry point because of the year-long weather of sunshine and the numerous entertainment and recreational options in the area.  It also helps that there are hundreds of movies and events being held in LA which promotes the US city in more ways than one. Ask any foreigner in any country and the chances are very high that they are familiar with Hollywood, Universal Studios, and Los Angeles.

This year, LA continues renovations to its Tom Bradley International Terminal and plans to reach out to other Asian countries where the economy is relatively more stable than in Europe. Los Angeles is also host to the 2012 Pow Wow travel convention in April spearheaded by the US Travel Association. Over 70 countries are expected to participate and/or attend.

Game On For Tourism Boost To Hawaii

March 30, 2012 by YourGuy

Congresswoman Mazie Hirono of Hawaii has announced her sincere intentions to boost tourism for her state, According to the figures for 2010, there were an estimated 54 million Chinese who traveled internationally yet less a million of these visited the U.S and only 62,000 traveled to Hawaii.  If a shift could be made to allow visa applicants easier approval, these numbers would rise and peripheral businesses like visitor insurance USA or the hospitality industry would experience a similar jump. Obviously, foreigners traveling to the US would need visitors insurance because medical care and treatment is expensive in the country. The country is ready for the tourists with hotels, recreation, and short term insurance; it’s just the government that’s holding back.

Democratic Rep Hirono estimates that every visitor to Hawaii would stay about 6 days and spend approximately $350 a day. Multiply this figure by the estimated 280,000 visitors they hope to attract this year, and that would help Hawaii’s economy by a long stretch.

In line with her intentions is the legislation to improve visa policies so Chinese and other nationals of good standing can enjoy multiple entries for a period of at least 5 years. There are other reforms to their bipartisan legislature such as extended stay approval for Canadian retirees and adjustments to the US Visa Waiver program. All these would increase the flow of visitors to the country and give the US a much needed shot in the arm. It would generate jobs, improve commerce, and bring in dollars.

According to Congresswoman Hirono, “The Pacific region is a vast market for new visitors. Reforming our visa process is a cost-effective, common-sense way to make it easier and more inviting for international businesses and tourists to come to Hawaii and the US. It’s why this is an idea both Democrats and Republicans are behind.”

Obama Finally Steps into The Ring With His Thoughts On the U.S. Visa

March 26, 2012 by YourGuy

Finally, US President Barack Obama has confirmed the existence of EO or Executive Order for US visa applications for Chinese and Brazilians. This will make it easier for everyone in the US tourism and travel industry to be more competitive and successful as a business. For instance, companies offering visitors insurance to anyone coming to the US will enjoy a brisker sale while hotels, resorts, and entertainment-related companies can start hiring again. Obviously visitors to the US will need incentives to come visit the country. Being protected against high cost of medical treatment with the US visitors insurance is going to help just as an increase in tourists will keep the cash registers ringing happily.

Aside from China and Brazil, Obama has given citizens of Taiwan the open door policy by eliminating the need for a US visa for Taiwanese people.  He made this announcement while visiting Disney World in Florida.

While it is not-so-new headline material, the timing is a little suspect. This year the country will be having its presidential elections so the announcement by Obama is a step in the right direction in creating more job opportunities and boosting eco-tourism in the country. Obama says, “We need to help businesses all across the country grow and create jobs; compete and win. That’s how we’re going to rebuild an economy where hard work pays off, where responsibility is rewarded, and where anyone can make it if they try.”

This January 31 will be the date for the Florida primary and with the less tight restriction and time constraints on visa application; Florida is set to take off. According to a member of the US Travel Association, Blain Rethmeier, “We’re really losing out on some huge economic benefit by not streamlining the process so that more people can visit our country. We must re-establish the U.S. as the premier destination for the world.”

Rare Duck Draws in Record Crowd to NorCal

March 26, 2012 by YourGuy

For some reason, a very rare Asian bird is now living in California’s Central Valley. Visitors have been flocking to the wildlife refuge just to take a peek at the male falcated duck. Naturally, being a wildlife refuge, visitors are being advised to make sure to have visitors insurance just to be on the safe side. The visitor insurance USA is just to safeguard in case you step on something and slip or experience similar accidents while in the refuge.  At least this way, medical attention and expense will be one less aspect to worry about.

The bird was first seen on December 8 and no one knows exactly how it traveled so far. This duck species is quite common in China and has been solely responsible for more than 2,000 birdwatchers traveling to NorCal just to see the bird.
The last time this duck species was seen in the area was in 2003 in Lassen Country and previous to that, in 2002 and 1969. The speculation is that the bird somehow escaped from a private collection. It has silver plumage and curved tapered long feathers that extend to the tail. It’s a beautiful, exotic creature and is included in many birdwatchers’ lists of most desirable birds to photograph.

Fortunately, the bird appears to enjoy the spotlight and can be seen swimming in a pond near the viewing deck. No one has approached it and trainers working in the wildlife refuge say that it looks to be wild and fidgety when it sees humans.

The wildlife refuge is part of the Sacramento National Wildlife Refuge Complex and can be accessed from Northeast of San Francisco. It is approximately only 120 miles away.

How To Avoid Getting Denied a U.S. Visa

March 26, 2012 by YourGuy

Now that the US government has started making US visa applications easier to process, the main concern of getting approved remains the big question. Even armed with US visitor insurance and funds to travel, the US consul may deem it inappropriate to issue a US visa to someone who may appear to not return home. The idea of securing the visitors insurance is an excellent tool but it’s not enough. There are other requirements that will need to be shown, with or without them being requested.

First of all, you have to show proof of income or parental support if you are a minor. Bring employment or business papers that would attest to your need to return home.  If you own any real estate property, add the titles in your list of documents to show or if you have contracts with other established businesses, you can take them with you when you meet with the US consul.

Second, if you do get denied for the first time, consider traveling somewhere else first to show proof that you travel for business and leisure and not to illegally migrate elsewhere. More stamps on your passport are a good indication that you are someone the consul can trust with a temporary visitor’s visa.

You have to assume that you are practically on the defensive because of previous citizens from your country who have not been honest about their intentions to visit the US.  The consul is just doing his job because illegal aliens in the US are a serious problem and a big burden on their resources.

If you have been repeatedly denied a US visa, then your last option is to appeal to the US Department of State or DOS. The DOS will review the consul’s reasons for disapproval and if found unsubstantiated, the visa will be issued. In most cases though, a consul’s decision is final.

Protecting Our Own National Parks

March 23, 2012 by YourGuy

The U.S. national parks are more than just a refuge for natural resources; it is also one way for the country to earn from visitors, both foreign and local. However, an international visitor who is planning to go to a national park should secure visitor insurance USA because anything can happen in these kinds of recreation parks.  At least with visitors insurance, any kind of medical treatment won’t bleed the travel budget dry.

Interestingly, just two months ago, the National Parks Conservation Association or NPCA announced the results of a study showing a return of $4 for every dollar spent. This should prompt the U.S. government to increase the support for national parks since it is able to generate profits.

As a result of this announcement by NPCA, US economists by the hundreds have been writing President Obama to “create jobs and support businesses by investing in our public lands infrastructure.”  At the moment, NPCA is supporting almost 270,000 jobs nationwide and bringing in approximately $13 billion in visitors spending.  National parks are 8th among the top 25 travel destinations in the U.S. Considering all these the parks need more not a cut in their share of the national budget.

Last month Congress approved another cut in national parks funding. It was the second time the budget was cut and the total amount since 2010 is a whopping $165 million drop. Obviously, there will be a corresponding drop in park services such as decrease in the number of forest rangers, general staff, and biologists. Even scarier is that the parks could begin to deteriorate and attract fewer visitors or even lead to some parks being closed temporarily for lack of funding.

On top of all that, there is the issue of being able to preserve our heritage so that future generations will be able to enjoy beautiful, majestic parks and nature trips for many years.

The Lure of Sports and Travel

March 21, 2012 by YourGuy

A large number of visitors travel to the US because of the sports events. There are several always ongoing at any given time and any given location in the country. There are marathons, ball games, racquet sports, races, and special events. Athletes and spectators protected by US visitor insurance make it a point to book their plans way ahead to avoid the rush. USA visitors insurance has become a necessity considering the multiple incidents of accidents and mishaps when traveling.

One case where sports and travel is boosting US economy is the events hosted by Richmond in Virginia. According to the Department of Statistics in the Virginia Commonwealth University, the area has the highest hotel occupancy rates just before a sports event. The biggest draw was last 2011’s Jefferson Cup and this year aside from the local teams from 35 different states, the organizers are expecting internationals teams to fly for the soccer tournament.

Across the country there are similar sports events that have drawn in visitors from out of town and other countries like the Boston Marathon, Super Bowl, US Open, Nascar, the hundreds of NBA , NHL, golf games and winter sports. Then there are those who travel to the US not to compete but to personally experience leisure sports activities related to water sports and winter sports, to name a couple.

Compared to any other country in the world, the US is known for staging some of the most popular sports events. They have so much flair and pizzazz from the venue, talent, entertainment value, and souvenir items. In fact, American sports are so popular even small countries in Asia follow the games whenever they can via internet or cable TV.

Many officials in the country are aware of global interest and have begun working on improving facilities and making the events even more appealing with support activities such as special sales, concerts, food fairs, and others.

The Good News for Hong Kong and New York

January 6, 2012 by YourGuy

A strange thing happened or is expected to happen this year end 2011 for New York and Hong Kong. Both cities celebrate a trivia milestone where they both welcome a very special visitor this December. For New York, expectations are high that they will be able to welcome their 50th million 2011 visitor while Hong Kong has been already able to say a sweet hello to Nancy Ryan from the U.S. for being their 40millionth visitor for 2011 alone. Both cities encourage visitors to acquire the US visitors insurance prior to flying in because medical care is expensive and the visitors insurance can help ease the burden. Since the insurance also applies to travel problem, it’s a good two-in-one bundle plan for a very small fee.

New York’s Mayor Bloomberg has always been vocal about a goal to get visitors into the Big Apple. His logic, which is something that economic experts have agreed with, stems from the fact that every visitor to New York spends money while in the city. The estimates on recreational revenues are pegged at more than $47 Billion. It is figure that will help the city keep its head way above the water and businesses operating profitably.

In 2000, before Bloomberg became mayor, the visitor count was 36.2 million. Last year, the figure rose to 48.7 million. Twenty percent of these visitors were international guests but spending half of the total revenues from tourism.

In Hong Kong, visitor arrival increased from November to December this year by 1.4% but is expected to go higher considering there’s still a week left before the end of December.  Americans and Canadians topped the list of international visitors with a 7.3% and 5.7% respectively. Two cities halfway across the world from each with parallel success ratios – this is a good sign.
